About Synthesia
Synthesia is a browser-based AI video production platform for training, onboarding, internal communications and marketing explainers. Users can turn scripts, prompts, presentations and documents into scenes narrated by stock or customized AI avatars, with editing, dubbing and localization features. Interactive roleplay and survey sessions, team collaboration, SCORM delivery and programmatic API access broaden its enterprise offering, but are not automatically included in every individual plan. In its October 2026 public pricing the Basic plan is free and Starter costs $19 per month on monthly billing or $14 per month equivalent annually. Pro costs $89 monthly or $59 equivalent annually; Enterprise pricing is custom. The vendor now uses a common credit pool for video, dubbing and certain interactions, in addition to a free monthly base allowance, so a dollar price does not map to unlimited finished video. Customer reviews often cite speed and ease for training content, while some report limitations in editing, avatar realism and credit value. No Toolbaaz firsthand testing or approved editorial score exists.
Best for
L&D, HR and enablement teams that routinely update multilingual scripted training; less suitable for live-action cinematic filmmaking, entirely natural human acting or unlimited video on a low monthly budget.
Synthesia pros and cons
Pros
- Converts scripts and slide/deck content into narrated avatar videos without a camera shoot.
- Large avatar and localization feature set supports repeatable training and internal communication.
- Basic plan enables limited free exploration before subscription.
- Annual and monthly self-serve pricing and shared-credit allowances are published.
- Vendor describes enterprise governance, SSO, SCORM export and formal security documentation.
Cons
- −AI presenters and voices may look or sound artificial for emotionally nuanced or premium brand film.
- −Shared credits consumed by video, dubbing and interactive functions complicate estimates of output per plan.
- −Custom avatars, advanced collaboration and export formats have tier and consent restrictions.
- −Starter and Pro provide limited paid credits; longer video programs need capacity planning or Enterprise.
- −No Toolbaaz hands-on comparison or independent render-quality benchmark.
