About Pika
Pika is an AI creative platform built around prompt-driven short-form video generation and additional image/audio tools. The current pika.art experience combines multiple video and image models with applications for text-to-video, image-to-video, swapping objects, extending clips and creative effects. It is positioned for social creatives, marketing concepts and visual experiments rather than camera-based footage editing or guaranteed production-perfect content. Pika changed its public pricing and plan names during 2026. The current official page shows a Free tier with zero recurring generation credits (credit packs only), Starter with 900 credits/month at $10 monthly or $8/month yearly, Creator with 3,150 credits/month at $35 or $28 yearly, and Fancy from 8,550 credits/month at $95 or $76 yearly, with higher scaled allowances. Credit costs vary widely by model, resolution and clip duration. Paid top-ups remain in the balance while recurring plan credits do not roll over. Do not use the older official FAQ's Basic/Standard/Pro plan allocations: it still says free 150, Standard 700, Pro 2,300 and Fancy 6,000 monthly credits, conflicting with the current pricing page. The current pricing matrix states Starter does not include a commercial licence; Creator and Fancy do. High fidelity, longer clips and high-volume generation can consume credits quickly, and output should be checked for physical plausibility and use rights. Toolbaaz has not tested generation quality or benchmarked Pika.
Best for
Social video creators and marketers testing AI motion concepts, short clips and image-to-video effects with clear credit budgeting.
Pika pros and cons
Pros
- Prompt-based video and image animation reduce the need to film every short creative concept.
- Current pricing table lists explicit credit budgets and model-level example consumption.
- Starter and Creator have straightforward annual discounts over monthly pricing.
- Paid top-up credit packs do not expire, so buyers can supplement irregular workloads.
- Creator/Fancy unlock a stated commercial licence and higher parallel generation capacity.
Cons
- −The current Free tier has no recurring generation credits; you need purchased credit packs for new generations.
- −Starter does not grant commercial licensing according to the pricing matrix.
- −Higher resolution, duration and premium models can consume an allowance quickly; rendered output counts vary widely.
- −Recurring plan credits expire every billing period without rollover.
- −Older official FAQ lists obsolete plan names and allowances; buyers must rely on the live pricing page.
- −No matched G2 reviews are currently posted, and a verified Capterra aggregate was not found; independent product-specific feedback is limited.
