About Notion AI
Notion AI is the AI layer inside Notion, the collaborative workspace for documents, knowledge bases, projects and structured databases. It can help draft and edit pages, summarize meetings, create databases, translate material, answer questions across workspace and connected app content, and run multi-step tasks with a Notion Agent. Enterprise Search can cite workspace and approved integrations such as Slack, Google Drive, Jira, Microsoft Teams and more. Unlike a detached AI chatbot, its results draw from the pages and permissions teams already manage. Agent-driven edits still need human review, especially when changing shared databases or posting to external services. Notion’s public pricing lists Free, Plus, Business and Enterprise. Free and Plus users only receive limited complimentary AI trials. Business is the first generally AI-inclusive seat tier and appears at US$20 per member/month on annual billing, US$240 per member for a year, with US$24/member for month-to-month billing reported for the other pricing selection; the official page itself directly shows the $20 annual selection and describes annual billing on its startup offer page. Enterprise is quote-only and includes different security terms such as vendor-marketed zero LLM-provider data retention. This is workspace/seat pricing rather than the price of a standalone Notion AI subscription. Notion introduced a consequential credit model for new Business and Enterprise workspaces on October 19, 2026; existing workspaces migrate from November 2. The help center lists 1,500 Standard credits and 500 Select credits per member each month for typical qualifying setups; one pool is for Auto model routing and the other for manually selected models/custom personal agents. Higher-consumption models, workspace-sponsored Custom Agents and work beyond allowances can draw separately purchased Notion credits. These credits do not roll over and entitlement can vary by plan/contract. AI Meeting Notes are scheduled to begin using Standard credits from December 1, 2026; this is a future billing rule as of the profile date. Notion publishes extensive help covering AI connectors, permissions, retention and admin usage controls. Source ingestion is not instant, and third-party app access can require connector administrators plus Business/Enterprise access. General Notion G2 and Capterra reviews show high overall satisfaction for customizable docs and workflows, with recurring complexity and permission friction; these are not Notion-AI-exclusive review scores. Notion AI is a good fit for teams already using Notion as an operational source of truth; less appropriate for a buyer wanting unlimited flat-fee frontier-model use, minimal configuration, or a standalone AI assistant without paid workspace seats.
Best for
Teams already managing documents, projects and company knowledge in Notion that want permission-aware search, AI drafting, meeting summaries and task agents.
Notion AI pros and cons
Pros
- AI has native context from docs and databases instead of switching to a separate app.
- Enterprise Search provides citations from workspaces and allowed connected apps.
- Agent can draft, organize, edit and create structured Notion content.
- Meeting notes, translation, database Autofill and AI blocks cover varied productivity tasks.
- Admins have model controls, connector permissions and credit monitoring.
Cons
- −Continuous full Notion AI access begins on Business/Enterprise, not the Free or Plus plan.
- −October 2026 credit changes complicate previously simpler AI entitlement assumptions.
- −Top models and workspace-funded Custom Agents may incur extra Notion credits.
- −Complex workspace structure and connectors take governance and onboarding effort.
- −External app content can take hours to index; AI answers and autonomous edits need human review.

Pricing at a glance
USD $0/member/month for the Notion workspace. Allows a limited number of complimentary AI responses; not ongoing full Agent, Enterprise Search or limitless generative AI. Free plan page/files restrictions apply.
USD $12/member/month month-to-month or USD $10/member/month equivalent with annual upfront billing ($120/year/member). AI access remains a limited trial, not the full Business AI entitlement.
USD $24/member/month monthly billed or USD $20/member/month with annual billing ($240/year/member). First full AI-inclusive tier; current new-workspace credits 1,500 Standard + 500 Select per member/month (subject to plan). Extra Notion credits for some custom agents/model usage.
Custom quoted per-member workspace pricing, negotiable terms, broader admin features and vendor-described zero LLM-provider data retention. AI credits and extra usage entitlements vary by arrangement; request plan-specific written details.
Usage add-on, NOT a standalone monthly AI subscription. Notion pricing advertises US$10 per 1,000 Notion credits for Custom Agents or extra/high-consumption model work. Bill in a usage-based context, not in `priceMonthly` or `priceAnnual`.
